A new challenge, prosecco and a policewoman - 60 second interview with Alison Blake

Posted on by

Name – Alison Blake

Job title - Manager in Freelance/Contract Professionals

What other jobs have you done apart from being a recruiter?
Nothing in my adult life – always worked in recruitment. Bar jobs and supermarkets whilst at school/uni

What is the funniest thing you’ve seen at work (anywhere)?
I had recently joined a company and a colleague was leaving as was re-locating. Other colleagues had organised for a stripper to come into the office disguised as a policewoman – it was hilarious and was an interesting introduction to the company

Why did you join Peace?
It was time for a new challenge and there is a great opportunity for me here. I really liked and agreed with the brand values and joining a smaller sized company really appealed to me. I had also worked with Chris previously and I knew we could work together and are on the same page.

Favourite food and drink?
Japanese food. Champagne/Prosecco – depending how well off I’m feeling

Favourite holiday?
South-east Asia – Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong in one trip

Favourite sport/team or hobby?
I watch a lot of sports – rugby, F1, golf, athletics

Where are the real challenges in the recruitment market just now?
In construction there are huge skills shortages. Inflated salaries/rates in certain sectors due to supply and demand.

What one piece of advice would you give to candidates seeking to get a job today?
Consider all the options. Although a job may be offering you a higher salary/rate of pay, this may not be the best option for you.

Favourite (non work) website and why?
Dailymail – pure escapism
