60 seconds with Scott (may involve football, YouTube, curry and beer)

Name – Scott O’Malley

Job title – Recruitment Consultant – Mechanical & Electrical Building Services

What other jobs have you done apart from being a recruiter? Hospitality and Engineering Procurement

What is the funniest thing you’ve seen at work (anywhere)? Working in bars and pubs over the years I have seen some very drunk people having a lot of trouble staying upright and controlling their emotions/stomachs.

Why did you join Peace? I knew a couple people who were in recruitment and it sounded like an industry I was keen to join. Peace have a good reputation in the market and for staff development so I was lucky enough to be offered a position.

Favourite food and drink? Curry and Beer… or a Beer and a Beer.

Favourite holiday? I spent time travelling South East Asia, but I am not sure you can call 3 months a holiday! Ibiza every year though, so I will go for that.

Favourite sport/team or hobby? Big football fan – playing and watching. I follow Hibs and Scotland… it’s a tough life.

Where are the real challenges in the recruitment market just now? I would say the biggest challenge is the high volume of recruiters and recruitment companies, so this shows the value of our customer service and long standing relationships we have with clients and candidates.

What one piece of advice would you give to candidates seeking to get a job today? Sit down with a knowledgeable recruitment consultant who can give you an accurate insight to the market. From there, you should agree on companies to approach which are best suited to your skills and experience - and match the direction of your development.

Favourite (non work) website and why? YouTube
