A shortage of the right shoes - 60 seconds with Rachel Murdoch

Posted on by

Name: Rachel Murdoch

Job title: Manager

What is the funniest thing you’ve seen at work (anywhere)?
Pranking one of our colleague in the office – she had ordered trainers and we hid one of them and typed up a letter from the company to say they had ran out of “right shoes” and they would post one out in the next week to her. She took a picture and put a status on Facebook about it and we let her call the complaints line to complain to the company before telling her we had hid the trainer!

What other jobs have you done apart from being a recruiter? My first ever job was a paper round and I have worked in Retail, Primary Schools, Nurseries and Music Events.

What do you like best about working in trades recruitment? There’s never and dull day and its always busy! Banter with the clients and candidates.

Who in the Peace office makes you laugh – and why?
All the girls in the trades and labour team because there’s always something to laugh about and we never run shy of a good story to tell.

Favourite holiday ever?
There’s too many to pick from! Iceland, Ibiza, Vegas and Rome.

Where are the real challenges in the trades market just now?
There’s a candidate shortage at the moment as the market is very busy.

What one piece of advice would you give to candidates seeking to get a job today?
Show a good work ethic and a willingness to work hard on site, this will help you to progress in your career.

Favourite (non work) website and why?
Instagram because I like looking at the photos, videos and memes.
