I know there are those out there who like to pour cold water on good news. It's an understandable human trait. However, it's' pretty hard to argue with the most recent RBS/Markit report on the recruitment market in August. So I won't, instead, simply quoting what they have to say, namely,
"Job vacancies across Scotland continued to increase during the latest survey period. Permanent staff demand strengthened ... Temporary job openings also increased at a faster pace during August ... Permanent staff appointments in Scotland increased at the fastest pace in just over four years ... (and) ... the rate of growth was among the quickest observed in the survey's history and outpaced that recorded for the UK overall. Similarly, Scottish recruiters received greater billings for contract staff. The rate of increase quickened to a three-month high and was also above the UK average."
As you can see, Construction and Engineering, the area that obviously interests Peace and our clients, is at a virtually similar level to the (strong) performance in July, while the index for contractors has risen by almost one point. So if you want to capitalise on this booming market by making a career move, this is a good time to do it.
