A crushing disaster and a taste for spiders

Posted on by

Where do we start with Tom, our new Resourcer?  Is it "one of my colleagues" eating spiders?  The £15 grand write-off of a customer's car?  The ambition to own a garage capable of housing 20 cars (we presume he'd want the cars too)?  Oh, just read on and find out for yourselves.  The spider story and the write-off are brilliant BTW!

Name: Tom Barratt

Job title: Resourcer

Biggest influence on your career to date?
Jordan Belfort – world’s greatest salesman

Funniest thing you’ve seen at work (anywhere)?
In my car selling days one of my colleagues was promised a deal if he ate a spider that was just found in the showroom. He ate the spider, but the boss didn’t give him a deal.

Biggest disaster anywhere at work?
As a young apprentice mechanic, I managed literally to crush a customer’s car whilst lifting it up on the ramp. I wasn’t paying attention and I had forgotten to close the big rolling garage door which, when open, sits directly above the ramp. I jammed the door between the car’s roof and the ceiling and only stopped when I heard a very loud crunch. The car was written off and the damage totalled around £15k…

Best toy you had as a child?
Thunderbirds Tracy Island

If you won the Lottery, what’s the first thing you’d buy?
A 20-car garage

Why did you join Peace?
It seemed like a great time to join an ever-growing company with huge opportunity in the future.

What were your first impressions of the company?
Great working environment, fully supportive team and a good vibe all round.

Who in the Peace office makes you laugh, and why?
James (Lennon) – pretty much any time he opens his mouth.
