He sellotaped the arm of my manager's chair to the leg of his desk...

Posted on by

We love these interviews with your new boys and girls, if only because we learn so much about them.  Who would have thought that Kris was party to a plot to cause shame and embarrasment to a car sales manager?  Or that, possibly uniquely in the world of recruitment, he mentioned a soft drink as one of his favourite beverages?  Or, that "habla español a un nivel intermedio," or, oh, you'd better read on...

Name: Kris Cairns

Job title: Senior Recruitment Consultant

Why did you join Peace?
Looking from the outside in I could see right away there was a great culture and the people I met prior to starting convinced me that I could see myself working here for a long time.

What other jobs have you done apart from being a recruiter?
Sales Executive with Arnold Clark. I also worked in Pizza Hut for a few years. I’m also a qualified Plasterer but I only do it for friends & family (far too messy).

What is the funniest thing you’ve seen at work anywhere?
When working at Arnold Clark my manager had a broken foot. He’d perfected a way to pull his chair out and throw himself onto it. My colleague sellotaped the arm of my manager's chair to the leg of his desk. The manager came back to his desk tried pulling the chair out but had already began throwing himself. Completely missed the chair and hit the deck. We had to turn up the music in the showroom to drown out the awful language coming out the manager's mouth. One of the best days of my life!

Favourite food and drink?
Chilli or Pizza I can’t choose! Drink would be beer probably or Robinsons Apple & Pear.

Favourite holiday destination – and why?
City break – New York, been twice and feel like I’ve not even scratched the surface. Beach holiday – L’Escala, Costa Brava family villa there and it’s just so peaceful. Not very touristy, which encouraged me to learn intermediate Spanish. I can only speak it though; I’m not good when someone is talking back to me.

What do you do to relax? Couch, good film and munchies or a walk around a decent golf course not counting the score just taking enjoyment out the odd good shot and taking in the scenery.

Who in the Peace office makes you laugh, and why?
Siobhan & Emma – Battle of the loudest.

Favourite (non-work) website and why?
Youtube – love watching old videos of the original Ronaldo, Zidane and Ronaldinho at work.

If you were President of the World, what’s the first thing you would do to change things for the better? I’d make illegal to be easily offended. Everyone needs to chill and enjoy themselves.
