Peace Recruitment has been engaged by one of Britain’s largest house builders founded in 1958 and recently generated a revenue of over £4b in 2016.

The role will be challenging and very different to any of the current Material Buyer/Planner opportunities available in the region. This is a new role that is being created due to the success of this role being implemented in the London regional office last year.

Requirements for the successful candidate:

You will ideally have experience working as a Materials Buyer/Planner within the housebuilding sector. My client builds traditional homes across the Surrey region and requires their staff to focus on providing reliable information as they are managing 14 sites.

The directors and managers of this regional office promote a good work/life balance and offer a friendly and helpful working environment. They are known as a sociable team who like a BBQ when the sun is shining!

In return you can expect:

Salary package made up of £50-60,000 plus car allowance, pension, healthcare, annual bonus

Overall purpose and experience required for the role:

  • The material planner’s role is to ensure that the supply of materials meets the production plan for the division and minimum stock levels to ensure operational and production continuity.
  • You should be able to deliver efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet production requirements. Maintains strong relationships both internally within the office and externally with suppliers and construction sites. This is to ensure supply of construction materials meets both quality and programme.
  • Work under general supervision from the purchasing manager, reviewed by Management Team.
  • You will need to be a good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the costs, Construction, manufacture and customer order fulfilment
  • Excellent attention to detail skills
  • Previous experience of materials planning ideally in the construction environment
  • Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills
