Placement Student

Position: Location: Salary: Ref: Type: Sector: Posted:
Placement Student Edinburgh Unit 2 Washington Court, 6 Washington Lane Scotland EH11 2HA Peace Recruitment >GBP £Competitive 19867 Permanent Executive Search 12/03/2019

I’m currently on my third year placement with Peace Recruitment and its (sadly) time I find my replacement for 2019/20. Peace Recruitment are a market leading specialist in Construction, Engineering & Property recruitment, based in the heart of Edinburgh city centre.

I can honestly say it’s a unique, energetic working environment and as an SME agency Peace adopt a ‘work hard play hard’ ethos offering a true work/life balance - along with a team always up for a laugh! Peace is located at Haymarket so the office can be easily accessed, whether it’s walking distance or a quick bus ride.

A placement with Peace isn’t your bog-standard 9am-5pm office job. In this role you will gain real, valuable experience with direct exposure to management and be given a great deal of responsibility that will genuinely enhance your skills and confidence. Just like the consultants, you will be rewarded for your efforts with incentivised holiday and regular “away days” (we celebrated in MADRID this year!).

So what exactly is involved...?

You will perform a broad range of roles:

  • Social media and advertising: through posting on the Peace Recruitment LinkedIn and Facebook alongside posting adverts on job boards. You are responsible for creating engaging posts and driving footfall to the website!
  • Accounts and debt management. This aspect revolves around debt management and ensuring that debt is controlled and also creating and issuing invoices for clients.
  • Resourcing” is the starting point for any role in recruitment. This basically means speaking to candidates/job seekers with the objective of pre-screening their suitability for vacancies we are currently trying to fill for our clients/prospective employers.
  • Valuable office administration and procurement tasks.  Responsible for procuring office requirements.
  • Project Management as you are given ad-hoc tasks to manage, for example I was given the task of creating Peace branded notebooks.   I had to find the designer, create a design, liaise with the production team and ensure they were delivered in time for Christmas.
  • Supporting the Managing Director when required – as he is your line manager you will report to him and work closely during everyday tasks.

I will be working alongside you to begin with to transfer the knowledge and skills of the role and most importantly, ensure you’re 100% confident and happy with your responsibilities for the years’ experience.

On offer for the successful student:

  • A one year fixed term contract
  • 20 days holiday + stat
  • On the job training and development with industry experts
  • A strong possibility of continued employment while completing your Hons Degree and beyond

P.S. For “brownie points”, follow Peace Recruitment on social media (Linkedin and Facebook) and engage in the posts. Ensure your LinkedIn page is fully completed.
