We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Principal Civil Engineer to join our clients' market leading Renewable Energy Infrastructure team in Edinburgh. 

What does the role involve?

You will be responsible for the delivery of civil infrastructure design packages and leading multi-disciplinary civil infrastructure design for renewable energy projects for their contractor and developer clients. The projects will include onshore wind, the land-based works for offshore wind and other renewable energy projects.

You will lead the production of design packages for concept, tender and detailed phases of renewable energy projects relating to; wind, transmission or other renewable energy project infrastructure and access design with consideration of build-ability, electrical component standards and environmental constraints; concept design for environmental impact assessment purposes; bridge and retaining structure geometry considering structural form and flooding levels and coordination of structural design; catchment assessments, culvert hydraulic design including CAR authorisation; develop sustainable drainage concepts and details consulting with EA or SEPA where necessary; public highway improvement concepts and detailed design for electrical component delivery including road authority consultation and road construction consent submission.

The role is client facing, includes project management and coordination of colleagues and/or technical teams to ensure successful delivery. You will also assist with the operational management of the team.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess:

  • Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers or other relevant professional body.
  • Extensive civil infrastructure design experience including working on multi-disciplinary projects relating to environmental, geotechnical, structural or other specialist disciplines.
  • Experience of working on projects from initial tender/bid submissions, project management, leading the production of engineering drawings, leading the geometrical design using Civils 3D modelling software, obtaining statutory or third party approvals, project administration, etc.
  • Experience of sustainable drainage design and using pipe network, attenuation system and culvert modelling software.
  • Experience and the ability to apply DMRB and local road standards in order to assess or develop access solutions.
