Job Description
Peace is working with a well-respected construction consultancy is looking to appoint a Contracts Manager to support a growing workload across the Transmission and Distribution Sector.
A Contract Manager is responsible for overseeing complex contractual arrangements and work packages of varying size and strategic importance. Portfolios may span multiple smaller contracts or single high?value, highly complex agreements. They lead on meeting all commercial and contractual obligations, ensuring effective governance across the full contract lifecycle. The role requires a flexible working approach, with an expectation to be onsite or at a client office three days per week to support project teams and maintain strong stakeholder engagement.
Key Accountabilities
As a Contract Manager, you have a passion to provide services as required by our clients, which may include:
- To negotiate contract T&C’s for projects of significant value (from £20M to £500M) and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase. This will include management of commercial staff.
- To negotiate contract prices and ensure all contract prices can be substantiated and provide value for money to consumers
- Demonstrable stakeholder engagement and management skills are essential, as is the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes together with problem solving.
- Cost and forecast management via regular cost reporting and ensuring change management procedures are adhered to, Payment and expenditure management, Cost estimating.
- Provide robust post contract commercial management which will support the project goals and objectives including negotiating/agreeing compensation events and ensuring that the core principles of the Commercial Manual are being implemented.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures, promote safety and safe working practices both internally and externally to improve safety performance.
- Support the Procurement and Commercial Manager in providing a world class procurement and commercial service.
Qualifications
- Significant, demonstrable experience in contract management, ideally within the energy sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Law, or an equivalent discipline.
- MCIPS qualification preferred but not essential.
- Strong experience in contract change management and claims management.
- Proven ability to draft and interpret commercial contracts, with knowledge of standard construction forms and bespoke agreements.
- Experience working with NEC and FIDIC contracts.
- Solid understanding of financial analysis and reporting for project budgets.
- Knowledge of commercial governance processes for large capital projects, including contract, commercial, or cost-related delivery experience.
- Ability to build, maintain, and manage strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
